On October 7, 2022, the USPS announced that it will no longer accept USPS Marketing Mail Letters and Flats for the ZIP codes impacted by Hurricane Ian. All other mail classes will continue to be accepted and held by the USPS until delivery can be made.
The information on the embargoed ZIP codes was communicated to the mailing industry via an Industry Alert. The impacted ZIP codes are shown below:
Mail Owners should work with their presort providers and printers to ensure that for their Marketing Mail jobs, the embargoed ZIP codes are being suppressed from the mailing list files prior to the postal presort process. While it is not required for these ZIP codes to be suppressed on jobs for other classes of mail, such as Periodicals, First-Class, or Package Services, Mail Owners may still wish to have the ZIP codes suppressed for these jobs.
At LSC Communications, our List Services has implemented processes to suppress these ZIP codes from all Marketing Mail jobs. Our Logistics team is working on identifying any Marketing Mail already in process that contains these embargoed ZIP codes. For jobs already in process, Marketing Mail with these ZIP codes on SCF and NDC pallets will continue to move through the mail stream, whereas mail with these ZIP codes on 5-Digit or Carrier Route pallets will be removed from the mail stream.
For detailed questions on any of your Marketing Mail jobs processed by LSC Communications, or if you wish to suppress embargoed ZIP codes on jobs other than USPS Marketing Mail, please contact your LSC sales or customer care representative.
